چکیده

This study aims to develop and evaluate vibration-based piezoelectric energy harvesters for generating power from a bridge structure. New designs of multiple-degree-of-freedom (DOF) cantilevers were proposed evaluated in laboratory on full-scale bridge. It was found that all cantilever showed potential 35 V voltage outputs under simple sinusoidal vibration scenario the laboratory. Field testing results match between frequencies structure resonant significantly affected output harvester moving tire loads. Through adding more DOF same cantilever, attenuation peaks generated by turned be less significant after each load passing, leading greater some cases. With adjusting mass combination 3-DOF design, production reached 11.1 58.2 μJ one single loading pulse, respectively, which higher than 9.2 14.9 obtained best 1-DOF cantilevers. The findings indicate developing multi-band harvesting vibrations.

On Mechanical Modeling of Cantilevered Piezoelectric Vibration Energy Harvesters

Cantilevered beams with piezoceramic (PZT) layers are the most commonly investigated type of vibration energy harvesters. A frequently used modeling approach is the single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) modeling of the harvester beam as it allows simple expressions for the electrical outputs. In the literature, since the base excitation on the harvester beam is assumed to be harmonic, the well known ...

Modeling the Power Output of Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters

Design of experiments and multiphysics analyses were used to develop a parametric model for a d33-based cantilever. The analysis revealed that the most significant parameters influencing the resonant frequency are the supporting layer thickness, piezoelectric layer thickness, and cantilever length. On the other hand, the most important factors affecting the charge output are the piezoelectric t...

Advanced Model for Fast Assessment of Piezoelectric Micro Energy Harvesters

The purpose of this work is to present recent advances in modeling and design of piezoelectric energy harvesters, in the framework of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). More specifically, the case of inertial energy harvesting is considered, in the sense that the kinetic energy due to environmental vibration is transformed into electrical energy by means of piezoelectric transduction. The...
